Morgan Press Wood Type Catalog ☜
Happiness is: 111 pages of giant wood type! I finally found a reasonably priced copy of this coveted catalog in a bookstore in Olympia, Washington. (Thank you, Orca Books.) Morgan Press founder, Willard Morgan, began rescuing antique foundry and wood type in the 1940s. After accumulating one of the largest collections in the U.S., he and his sons, Douglas and Lloyd, opened Morgan Press Printers and Typographers in Hastings-on-Hudson, NY, in 1958. Their company offered a unique typesetting service to designers that utilized their vast collection of wood type and as a result, helped usher in the antique type revival of the 1960s. Cover designed by John Alcorn. Morgan Press, c. 1963-1964.
